Screams Come True Haunted House and Hay Maze brought in over 1200 people to the Whitehall area over the course of its two weekend run. When the idea originated after Halloween in 2018, creator Liz Pullman thought the house would be successful if it brought in 100 people a night. While the Jefferson Valley Rural Ambulance District (JVRAD) question on the ballot is not a binding vote, it will help guide the Town of Whitehall in the direction its citizens want. The Western Legacy Center (WLC) announced its plan to create a viable, vibrant tourism-based enterprise to generate economic and cultural value for Jefferson County. The Western Legacy Center will celebrate Montana's cowboy, cowgirl and rodeo culture and feature other historical themes including railroad, mining, mountain men, and Native American culture. A 27-year old Clancy man has died and several more were injured after a moose collided with their vehicle at mile marker 10 on Highway 69 Sunday night. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the deceased was driving southbound on Highway 69 around 7:50 p.m. Sunday when the incident occurred. A 21-year-old Clancy woman was a passenger in the vehicle, along with a 24-year-old woman, a five-year-old girl, and a four-year-old boy. State of the art extrication equipment was purchased by the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department thanks, in large part to a $10,000 donation from the Ladies Auxiliary, which runs the Country Store by Whitehall RV Park. The equipment was much needed, according to Fire Chief Joe Granvold, who said issues with the hydraulics on the older equipment held up rescue times.
