A driver survived a crash after the semi-truck he was driving plunged a reported 100 feet down a cliff face off Interstate 90 at 10 PM Monday, April 29. According to the Whitehall Fire Department, the driver was eastbound on Homestake Pass between Whitehall and Butte when the crash occurred. The Whitehall Town Council held a special meeting at 11 AM on Monday, April 29th, to finalize the proposed Infant-at-Work Policy submitted for approval in March. At the April meeting of the Town of Whitehall Recreation Board, held on Monday, April 29th, at the Town Hall, summer was on everyone’s minds. The Whitehall Pool's tentative opening date is June 19th; however, manager Kelley Seccomb said that the pool still needs at least two more lifeguards. At the April meeting of the Whitehall School Board, held Tuesday, April 2nd, in the Elementary Library, much discussion of the upcoming 2024-2025 school year was had. Most importantly, changes to the Early Literacy Program. The Early Literacy program is a half-day program available to students who are age four by September 10, 2024. Jefferson Valley Emergency Medical Services and Rescue were joined by Ruby Valley EMS and Harrison Volunteer Fire Department for a two-day training at the Whitehall High School over the weekend. Over a dozen responders were trained, while another 10-15 volunteered as victims of a shooting within the school. An email from the Whitehall School nurses went out to students and parents on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, informing families that Fifth disease appears to have made its way into Whitehall Elementary. “We have had a number of elementary students with what appears to be Fifth disease over the last few weeks, but finally have a provider diagnosis to confirm it.
