At the monthly school board meeting last week, Superintendent John Sullivan approached the Whitehall School Board of Trustees about the possibility of purchasing an activity bus for the districts. Sullivan said this issue has come up more and more as the teams travel, and the current Whitehall activity bus supplied by Harlow’s was out of commission for most of October. The 2012 approved Noxious Weed Mill Levy is due to sunset in June of 2017. According to Jefferson County Weed and Mosquito Coordinator Jill Allen, the mill levy being proposed on the November 8 ballot will be a continuation of the existing mill to maintain what is currently operating the herbicide cost-share program. The production in September was well above the anticipated target at the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine. During his monthly update at the Community Transition Advisory Committee meeting, Mine General Manager Dan Banghart said the production for the month was 4,400 ounces, above the target of 3,700.
