Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip...

Visionary Broadband representative Brian Worthen met with the Whitehall Town Council at their January meeting on Monday, January 16 at the Whitehall Town Hall. For many, his information was an exciting new development of business opportunity for the Whitehall area. For the town, it was a bit of a headache in the form of legal processes, and for some local businesses, potential competition in the fiber internet realm. Worthen detailed the federal grant he was awarded to put fiber internet throughout the town of Whitehall, information he had...
Governor Greg Gianforte issued Executive Order 2-2024 declaring a state of energy emergency to make it easier for carriers to supply much-needed propane, heating oil, and diesel fuel during harsh winter conditions. “Montanans have seen harsh winter weather this week, affecting families through power outages, frozen water supply lines, loss of heat, ice jams, and supply chain disruption,” Gov. Gianforte said. “This executive order will ensure the timely and necessary delivery of petroleum products so that Montanans can continue to heat their...

Monday, September 25, 2023, started like most others – a cup of coffee, a hug from my wife, and a crisp 80-mile morning motorcycle ride to Helena for a pastors' breakfast. There were no foreboding thoughts as I rode down the mountain toward Whitehall. In fact, I have no mental recollection of what happened next and how close a call I was about to have with eternity. At 7:03 a.m., my phone sent an automated message to 911 that a crash had been detected. It also texted my wife, Laura, with a m...

In the January 7, 1998 issue of the Whitehall Ledger, owner Glenn Marx offered up 98 Best Wishes for 1998. What a great idea - and in the January 4, 2023 edition I restarted this tradition, though lucky for me, as we entered 2023, I only need to offer 23 Best Wishes. Now, on to 2024, and some best wishes for the new year! 24) Best wishes to everyone involved in the highly anticipated new Golden Sunlight daycare facility. 23) Best wishes (and speedy finishing) to the new Whitehall Town Pump. We can’t wait to see it! 22) Best wishes to the W...

We each have a calling - sometimes it just isn't clear to us right off. We have to learn and we have to live, before we realize where we are meant to be. For Jacob and Brittany Trodick, their calling brought them to God and the church and, more recently, to Whitehall. The Trodicks, along with children, moved to Whitehall earlier this year, taking on the youth director position for ages 5-11 at the Whitehall Assembly of God Church, pastored by Bill Lanes. Jacob and Brittany, who knew (and...
7 has been a wild year, and with it we’ve had some truly wild stories. We’ve learned the truth about Fireball, survived some TikTok trends, seen a woman saved by a dead rabbit, honored incredible lives and learned more about aliens. The news cycle feels more frenetic than ever, which can make it hard to remember everything that’s happened this year. Here’s a look back at the top stories that captured readers’ attention in 2023 from NPR.org and across the NPR Network. There’s no whiskey in bottles of Fireball Cinnamon, so customers a...
Looking back, 2023 was a year of wild swings. And two big strikes (if you’ll forgive the pun) — first the Writers Guild and then the Screen Actors Guild took the studios and streamers to task, forcing production to a halt. Yet whatever was going on behind the scenes, Hollywood had a grand-slam year, asserting its audacious cultural relevance with the historic double-header that was “Barbenheimer.” Variety’s two chief film critics agree that Christopher Nolan’s portrait of the man behind the Manhattan Project is one for the ages — a “Lawrence o...

The best decorated business went to Stageline Pizza (above) with honorable mention Jefferson Inn....
While the December Whitehall Town Council meeting, held Monday, December 18th, was brief, the main item of discussion will be a recurring topic into 2024. Public Works Director Kory Klapan reported that the Town had received bids for the water treatment facility, ranging between $8.6 and $11.6 million. Hard Rock of Helena was the lowest bid. These bids come in almost 50% higher than originally expected. For context, the pre-COVID-engineered cost estimate for the water treatment building alone was $3.7 million. It now sits at $5.3 million. The...

The December meeting of the Whitehall School Board, held Tuesday, December 5th in the Whitehall Elementary Library, was short, sweet, and straight to the point, wrapping up in less than 45 minutes. The biggest article of news came from Whitehall Schools Superintendent Hannah Nieskens regarding the state-required project entitled A Portrait of a Graduate. Also known as a Graduate Profile, Portrait of a Learner, Habits of Success, Lifelong Learning Standards, and other expressions, this vision describes the skills and competencies that a communit...
