At the April meeting of the Whitehall School Board, held Tuesday, April 2nd, in the Elementary Library, much discussion of the upcoming 2024-2025 school year was had. Most importantly, changes to the Early Literacy Program. The Early Literacy program is a half-day program available to students who are age four by September 10, 2024. Jefferson Valley Emergency Medical Services and Rescue were joined by Ruby Valley EMS and Harrison Volunteer Fire Department for a two-day training at the Whitehall High School over the weekend. Over a dozen responders were trained, while another 10-15 volunteered as victims of a shooting within the school. In the past several months, an alarming number of wrong-way motorists have been arrested for driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 near Three Forks. The disturbing recent string of incidents turned fatal on January 4 when 22-year-old Laysa Grewell was killed following a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver at mile marker 278 just outside of Three Forks.
