This Thursday at 5 PM the Whitehall Community Library will hold Middle Teen Madness for any young person who likes to play games and is 12 years of age or older. Because of the continued cool, wet weather, we are continuing to collect the Dalmatian toadflax stem boring weevil Mencius janthiniformis. We have requests for over 70 releases and have only been able to collect 10 releases so far. We will be trying to collect more this week as the weather warms. Wish us luck! Hunters who will not be able to use their license this season have the opportunity to donate that license. Residents and nonresidents can donate their hunting license to a disabled military veteran or disabled active-duty service member who is working with an organization that uses hunting as part of the rehabilitation process. Hunters can sign up for leftover licenses and permits that were not distributed by the drawing through MyFWP on the FWP website. The resulting Surplus License List will be randomized with hunters at the top of the list contacted via email with instructions to finalize their purchase within a specified time. This last week I noticed a lot of small sparkly creatures flying in the air at night. I tried to capture one but had no luck. I called one of the locals who hunt bugs and he said to turn on a big LED light at night and the creatures would come towards the light. So that night I put a light on and waited an hour.
