Ned is the 30-ish son of Ma and Pa Boodle whose efforts to introduce girlfriends to his family don't turn out very well. His family is somewhat "colorful"-his mother is a June Cleaver type at her homiest; his father is pretty clueless his grandpa manages a cat (rescue) house; and his sister Lulu is a hypochondriac with an equally germ-o-phobic boyfriend, Luke. Also, there's the ever-helpful Jack, who resides in a cardboard appliance box in the middle of the Boodle living room, and the neighbor, Mrs. Doodah-Doodah. But Ned's latest introduction...

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, meaning that day we fill our pie holes with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pie. We watch our family or friends cook all day over a hot stove. The turkey is fried or cooked in the oven. All the side dishes are baked on the stovetop. But where is the pie coming from? Normally the grandma wants to make the pie, but nowadays it's the people who are not cooking turkey that bring that pie. Who really makes it? The saying "I made it myself" can mean many different things like: I got everything, all...

From Absarokee to Whitefish, Montanans have been protected against the threat of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning for years, thanks to Montana Senate Bill 161, which implemented CO protection measures statewide in 2009. Since then, CO alarms have helped save countless lives from the dangers of this invisible, odorless, and potentially fatal gas. With the passage of Montana Senate Bill 161, the “Treasure State” began requiring CO alarms to be installed in all landlord-controlled dwellings, and the disclosure of CO alarm presence or absence when tr...
Bacon has undeniable appeal. With its smoky and salty flavor, bacon often can transform dishes from tasty to delicious. There are many ways to enjoy bacon during meals, and not just at the breakfast table. In this recipe for BLTs with Pimento Cheese, bacon is the star of the show and enhanced by pimento cheese, which is a spread traditionally made from shredded cheddar, mayonnaise, and pimento peppers. It's often called the Cheese of the South because it is frequently utilized in cuisine...
Jefferson Valley Fine Arts (JVFA) will not be conducting a Christmas Festival exhibit this year, as in the past. Although we had great artist participation last Festival, there was very little foot traffic. The logistics of providing a one-day show in the middle of winter is difficult for everyone involved and so regrettably the decision was made to cancel this show. We are looking for additional opportunities to provide exhibits throughout the year and more will be forthcoming on that in the future. Please note, however, the Frontier Days...

OCTOBER 28, 1998 Improved communication between town employees and town elected officials, and a clearer delineation of duties and responsibilities were two of the suggestions for improved town council productivity discussed during a special Whitehall Town Council meeting on October 20. For the past few years, through two different town administrations, relationships and the working environment among the mayor, council, and employees had been strained, and at times close to volatile. The...
