The Whitehall Chamber of Commerce is continuing to seek renewals and new members in 2018. At the monthly meeting last week, Chamber President Jan Thorne said there are currently 65 renewals and 10 new members and the board is still working to increase this number. “Hopefully it will be an increase over last year,” she said. The Whitehall Senior Center is hosting their annual fundraiser later this month. The Winter Fest Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, February 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center located at 3 North Division Street in downtown Whitehall. Students from across Southwest Montana will be headed to town next week for the Whitehall Middle School Music Festival. According to school musical director Janet Heilig, a total of eight schools will be at the festival planned February 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will take place at both the elementary and high school, and is free of charge and open to the public. A generous donation from the Ladies of the Country Store will greatly assist a planned renovation at the Whitehall Fire Hall. According to Joe Granvold of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department, the Ladies Auxiliary made an $18,000 donation at a town council meeting earlier this month. A recent announcement from Governor Steve Bullock had some positive news for Jefferson County. Three county organizations were among the recipients of $750,000 in grants to develop and enhance tourism and recreation in 27 Montana communities across the state. The Whitehall Chamber of Commerce recently received huge news when they were informed of a grant from the state of Montana. The chamber will receive a $5,720.50 grant from the Office of Tourism and Business Development.
