The Whitehall Rotary Club, with help from the Whitehall High School Interact Club, is holding their annual family friendly Fall Harvest Dinner/Dance on Sunday, October 28 at the Whitehall Community Center. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and music will be playing by the Little Boulder River Band. The Jefferson Valley Museum has been collecting the history of our valley for more than two decades. There are records of settlers from the mid-1860s forward. But, human habitation of the valley goes back thousands of years. An archaeological project in the northern Whitetail area has uncovered evidence of people living in this area as far back as 8500 to 8700 years ago. This is the last month to view the Kimono exhibit at the Library. For those of you who have already enjoyed this beautiful exhibit, Keiko will be presenting a program on their history as well as showing everyone how they are worn. Ann Palmer can remember several years ago when the Whitehall area community would come together on an annual basis to celebrate a large fall festival. This weekend a similar event will return to Whitehall with Saturday’s Homegrown 406 Fall Festival. Palmer who is helping to organize the September 21 event, also helped out with the prior fall festival. A Carroll College bound Whitehall resident had the opportunity of a lifetime earlier this summer when he traveled to New Zealand with a 4-H Cultural Exchange program. Zeb Antonioli recently took part in the New Zealand Outbound program where he was able to stay in the country 2 1/2 weeks. The 4-H program was in partnership with the New Zealand Young Farmers. The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department took time last week to thank a local organization whose recent donation helped significantly with a recent remodel at the fire hall. The department hosted a dinner Thursday as a thanks to the Volunteers of The Country Store who donated $18,000 in January. The department used the donation, along with $10,000 raised at the annual Frontier Days fundraiser, to complete extensive work on the conference room. The 2018 Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo, "A Fair of the Heart," is August 22 to 26 at the Jefferson County Recreation Park, one-half mile south of Boulder. It didn't take long for a large crowd to gather last Saturday at the 100th Anniversary Celebration at Cardwell School. In 2015 Michele Franich and Kerry Kraha launched a dream of a Community Art Show and the first two person show was held. Soon Michelle Tebay was added to the roster which grew rapidly to 30 artists willing to share their view of the world. Today there are 70 artists on the list from the Jefferson Valley area. In a little over a month, students from past and present will come together for the Cardwell School 100th Anniversary Celebration. Among the former students is Buzz Cowdrey of Bozeman who started school in late 1940's.
