    The second weekend of September is always a popular time for local residents as they make their way to the Whitehall Fall, Gun, Knife, and Antique show. The 13th annual event will take place September 9 to 11 at the Whitehall Community Center located at 11 North Division Street.     Year in and out, local junior high and high school rodeo competitors and their families make numerous trips across the state. This weekend they won’t have to travel and get the chance to compete in front of a home crowd at the annual Whitehall High School and Junior High Rodeo.     There has been a change of dates for the monthly school board meeting in Whitehall. The Whitehall Schools Board of Trustees meeting originally scheduled for September 6 has been rescheduled for September 13 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place in the school library. Late last month, the Trustees approved the 2016-17 fiscal year budgets for both the elementary and high school districts.   • Local rescue organizations receive generous donation

    For the past two years, softball teams from around Southwest Montana have come together for a good cause at the Whitehall Charity Softball Co-Ed Tournament. This year proceeds and food donations were given to two local pet rescue organizations. Last Thursday, tournament organizer Mikel Kelly gave 4-Paws Rescue and Patti Reed's new rescue orgnization each $325 from the tournament proceeds.     September 7 was a great day for the Whitehall High School volleyball team. The Lady Trojans picked up their first win of the season with a come from behind victory over Twin Bridges. Whitehall came out of the gates strong winning the first set, 25-16. The Lady Falcons would answer back, picking up the next two sets, 25-11 and 25-17.     Last Saturday I had the chance to attend the cross-country meet hosted by Whitehall High School. I was really impressed with how many people turned out for the event. There were a lot of local residents who showed up to cheer on the Trojans middle school and high school teams.     Last Saturday was a chance for members of the community to show their support for the Whitehall High School Cross Country team. They did not disappoint with a large crowd making their way to the rodeo grounds to support the Trojans.
