  • Council interviews slated for next week

    The Whitehall Town Council held a special meeting on Thursday, June 30, in order to discuss filling a vacant seat and paying the bills for this fiscal year. The council seat that was discussed at the meeting belonged to Ward 3 member Elizabeth Howser. Town Attorney Matt Haus was asked to address the issue and explain the state statute.     Next week local business owners and managers will get the chance to learn more about wrongful termination and employee manuals at a luncheon hosted by the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce.   • High temperatures lead to Hoot Owl restrictions

    Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has announced fishing restrictions on additional sections of the Big Hole River, the lower Ruby, lower Beaverhead, Jefferson, and lower Gallatin Rivers that went into effect Friday, July 1 at 2 p.m. as a result of high water temperatures.     Surrounded by his loving family, Arnold Buchanan of Whitehall passed away unexpectedly from complications of an accidental fall on Saturday July 2, 2016. Arnold was born March 26th 1931 in Laramie, Wyoming and at a very early age moved to Butte until his high school years, which were spent in Sedro Wooly WA. After graduating Arnold returned to Butte and was employed by Anaconda Copper Mines. Arnold met the love of his life Lucille Buettner on a blind date. They were married a year later.
