  • High Temps Prompt Additional Hoot Owl Restrictions on Some Rivers in SW Montana

    Daily hoot owl fishing restrictions are being implemented for sections of the Gallatin, Beaverhead, Big Hole and Clark Fork rivers to reduce fish stress and mortality during high water temperatures. Hoot owl restrictions prohibit fishing each day between 2 p.m. and midnight.     A daily fishing restriction is now in place for the lower Madison River to reduce fish stress and mortality during high water temperatures.     Two people received relatively minor injuries Wednesday in a surprise close encounter with a moose in Big Sky. A group of seven people were walking between Turkey Leg and Sitting Bull roads at Big Sky Resort about 10 a.m. when they were charged by a cow moose.
