With all of the controversy surrounding libraries these days, I thought it would be nice to let everyone know how the Whitehall Community Library serves the public and why. Reading is a portal into thousands of different stories, no matter if it is for escape, education, entertainment, or just curiosity. Our readers have the option of books on CD, paperbacks, online audio and print books through Montana2Go, hardbacks, graphic novels, board books, and non-fiction referen...

She is a quiet, unassuming little elf who spends the year doing amazing things for others. She needs no fancy titles, public recognition, or payment for her quiet service. It all started out when she was caring for a loved one who would not recover. Needing something to pass the time, she began crocheting hats for children. Under her tender care, the yarn became transformed into foxes, giraffes, bears, lions, frogs, and more. Each hat became a mini work of art as the love she shared for others became gifts for those who did not have as much....
The Christmas Festival was a big hit at the Library and we had almost 600 people there celebrating in a variety of ways. I want to take a second and thank the many people who made all the fun happen. First, a big thank you to Deanna Mydland from PBSKids and her helper Katey Crusch for all of the wonderful crafts and projects they provided for the children. Special thanks also to the Friends of the Library who manned the Book Sale, as well as the Winter Wear Give Away and the Cookie Reception tables. This year we were thrilled to have beautiful...
The elves have been to the Library to decorate, and the entire place is covered with Christmas cheer! The 21st Century program finished learning about Ukrainian Spider ornaments and creating their own when they volunteered to help the staff decorate the tree, light the windows, and stash little bits of holiday traditions around the building. Thank you all for helping!! The Library is the place to be during the Christmas Festival on December 10th. We will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM with multiple...

Without a doubt, the question I get asked the most is “What are you reading?” Since I generally have at least ten books going at the same time for different book clubs, programs, and my own enjoyment; I decided to share what I am currently reading this week. The History Book Club is reading a biography of a First Lady of the United States. I went through several before deciding what to read and came up with a book I had purchased years ago. My Life with Jacqueline Kennedy was written by her personal secretary Mary Barelli Gallagher in 196...

I love watching big machines building things. As a child, I would go to huge construction jobs with my dad and ride around with him on his motorcycle as he checked out all the different areas of new shopping centers, schools, automobile plants, and more. There is a new ambulance barn going up by my house and I must confess I spent too much time watching the digging up of all that dirt! It seems that all over Whitehall there are new businesses going in, construction going on and new people coming to join the community. It is great to see our tow...
