I had some fantastic news this week! The Whitehall Community Library has been chosen as one of five libraries to participate in the Entrepreneurial Support in the Library Small Cohort! This means that the Library will become a resource center for area businesses as well as those who are thinking about beginning a business of their own. I will take five weeks of classes to learn and understand the materials we will be providing to the community, as well as online discussions with the Montana State Library and Accelerate Montana Rural Innovation...

I hope you all had a happy holiday weekend. The Library was able to make Easter a little brighter thanks to the Love, INC. organizations in Dillon and Whitehall. They provided 50 Easter baskets for the Library to pass out to children and their parents last week. Candy, games, toys, and more awaited the little ones during story time and after school. Thank you again to both groups! April 4-10 is National Library Week! This year’s theme is “Welcome to Your Library” and Natalie Portman is the honorary chair. The award-winning actress has just...

Interesting things always seem to find their way into the Library! Someone has turned in a 1938 Recreational Equipment Inc. Cooperative pin into us. If this belongs to you, just stop by the front desk, give us a quick description and claim this lovely memento. Deanna Mydland from PBS has left the Library 50 children’s game kits to give out. All you need to do is stop by and fill out a five-minute survey and claim this bag full of fun. This is a chance for parents of preschoolers through elementary age children to test a series of games for P...

One of the really great things about working in the Library is the chance to meet so many new residents in Whitehall. We have had people from all over the country coming to Montana and bringing their talents and willingness to share their skills with the Library. I am currently working with one such person in creating a music and movement class for toddlers and preschoolers after Storytime on Fridays. This would be a terrific program to teach younger children about music and how many fun ways there are to move to music! Watch for more details....
