After nearly four decades at 15 West Legion, the Whitehall Ledger vacated the space on December 20, 2022, for its new home at 405 West Legion. Where is that? many have already asked. Some know it as the Headstart building, others as the wrestling building; I myself will always know it as where Jane’s Hair once was. But yes, it is the dark grey building located across the way from Liberty Place’s corporate offices. Please use the west side entrance, in the alley. Signage is on its way and the office is coming together nicely. Please have pat...

Representatives of the Whitehall Saddle Club (WSC) were in the audience, waiting to comment on the Council’s determination on Resolution 2022-21, the Rec Complex bylaws. During the Rec Complex Board report, it was disclosed that Lonna Johnson, who has been with the WSC for 30+ years and on the Rec Complex Board for 20+ years, had resigned from the Rec Complex Board. Her position must now be appointed by Mayor Mary...

A total of 145 survey results were collected. When the data of respondents was disaggregated by school level the following was discovered: Elementary parents: 84 respondents total with 64 (76%) in favor of the 4-day week; 20 (24%) prefer 5...

When an idea comes, sometimes you silence it - other times you mention it to others and realize you have their full support. Such is the case with Sage Wellness Center and Bethel Wagner. "Four years ago I graduated from health coaching school and was doing one on one sessions. Then, in the last year and a half or so, I felt like I needed to expand into something bigger," Wagner explained. "I wanted to collaborate with other people and offer more than just health coaching." Many years ago the Whitehall Ledger had a Volunteer of the Week spotlight, which featured the good-doings of one local person. This person could have done something helpful just the week prior, or have a voluminous history of volunteerism throughout town and our area. In 2023 the Whitehall Ledger wants to resinstate this spotlight but needs your help. Who do you know that has done something out of the goodness of their heart, without being asked, or is just always there to lend a helping hand? This could be someone few people know or someone...

It’s time to start voting! Visit the Ledger’s Facebook photo album entitled 2022 Photos of the Week (https://bit.ly/3UibZIt) and start voting! Bloom will expand their services in the new space with bioacoustic offerings. It’s the end of an era as well for The Whitehall Ledger, which w...
Two Whitehall entities requested the use of Whitehall Town property at the monthly Town Council meeting, held at the Town Hall on Monday, November 14. “Informal talks” had been had with each group with employees of the Town and with the Mayor. Jeannie Ferriss, Whitehall Community Library Librarian, requested the use of the old Whitehall Town Hall, located on Whitehall Street next to the library, in order to expand the library itself. In turn, the Town would then need to move the Whitehall Court office to the Town Hall, requiring them to per...

We all know the old saying: it takes a village to raise a child. However, that old adage can be applied to so many aspects of life. Most recently I've realized it takes a village to put on a community event. From Frontier Days to Fall Festival, to Shakespeare in the Parks to Screams Come True, there are so many people behind the scenes that don't receive the proper credit for everything they've done to make the event a success. Without that proper credit, we lose volunteers who make the event...
The Whitehall School Board met on Tuesday, November 1 and continued their discussion as to whether a four-day school week should be considered for the district. Whitehall Superintendent Hannah Nieskens presented information from the Three Forks school district, which recently converted to a condensed week and is most like our district, Nieskens said. Pros noted from the Three Forks research included: attraction for new teacher recruitment and retention, creates additional 30 minutes in the daily schedule for longer labs, etc., provides more...
Whitehall's Screams Come True Haunted House, Hay Maze, and Escape Rooms is celebrating the completion of its fourth year and its biggest year to date, with nearly 4,000 people going through the haunt over the course of six days.
