Every New Year’s I set myself up for failure. I’m going to lose 30 pounds this year! I’m going to wake up early and go for walks every morning! I’m going to cut sugar, wheat, milk, and all things fattening out of my diet. Yeah...right. However, this year feels a bit different. My best friend Stevie, when we were making New Year’s plans, stressed me out when she said she wanted her NYE to be “intentional.” What does that mean? But it turned out to be an evening of girl talk, Love Island Games, and creating 2024 vision boards. We ended the eve...

We each have a calling - sometimes it just isn't clear to us right off. We have to learn and we have to live, before we realize where we are meant to be. For Jacob and Brittany Trodick, their calling brought them to God and the church and, more recently, to Whitehall. The Trodicks, along with children, moved to Whitehall earlier this year, taking on the youth director position for ages 5-11 at the Whitehall Assembly of God Church, pastored by Bill Lanes. Jacob and Brittany, who knew (and...
Tilden Yamamoto and his business have been flying under Whitehall's radar for a while now, but with his top-selling wreath with custom jeans selling to Split Diamond Ranch at the 25th Annual Whitehall Saddle Club Wreath Auction making front page news, his days of being inconspicuous are numbered. The custom clothing business is nothing new to Tilden, who has been designing classic silhouettes since 2000. "I started really early sewing, as a kid, just for fun and I ended up going to a state...

When you have a child, that first Christmas is magical...and so is the second, third, fourth, and so on. And then, suddenly, that little bundle of joy is a full-grown adult. This year marked the first Christmas of my son’s adulthood. He’s out on his own, having moved to Manhattan in mid-December, and is working at the Bozeman airport. Being the newbie at work, he had to work both Christmas Eve day and Christmas Day. I texted him mid-day Christmas Eve when he got off work, asking whether he thought he could make it over. for Christmas Eve tradit...
While the December Whitehall Town Council meeting, held Monday, December 18th, was brief, the main item of discussion will be a recurring topic into 2024. Public Works Director Kory Klapan reported that the Town had received bids for the water treatment facility, ranging between $8.6 and $11.6 million. Hard Rock of Helena was the lowest bid. These bids come in almost 50% higher than originally expected. For context, the pre-COVID-engineered cost estimate for the water treatment building alone was $3.7 million. It now sits at $5.3 million. The...
